June 28, 2006 Orioles 9, Phillies 7
| After the Phillies won game one of the doubleheader 9-2 earlier in the day, the Orioles get their revenge. The O's jumped out to a 5-0 lead after one inning, but the Phillies would eventually tie the game and take the lead after single runs in the 2nd and 3rd and a 4-run 4th inning. The Orioles would tie it in the bottom of the 4th, retake the lead in the 5th, and neither team would score again after the 6th inning. Bad day for starters Scott Mathieson and Kris Benson. Benson wouldn't get out of the 4th, adding in 2 consecutive wild pitches which scored a run. Mathieson settled down after that 5 run first inning, but after Melvin Mora led off the 6th with the go-ahead homerun, he got the hook. 3 wild pitches for Mathieson (2 in the first inning) and a balk added to the misery. |

Corey Patterson hit one over the fence and had 3 RBI as the Baltimore Orioles
beat the Philadelphia Phillies by a score of 9 to 7.
Philadelphia never recovered after Baltimore took the lead in the 5th inning
scoring 2 runs utilizing 3 base hits. Melvin Mora began things off when he
cracked a solo homerun (his 13th of the season). Miguel Tejada came next and
he delivered a one-base hit. After an out was recorded, Clay Condrey came up
and he was wild with a pitch. Patterson stepped in and he delivered a
base-hit scoring the final run of the inning. Baltimore had a total of 13
hits for the game.
The victory was credited to Latroy Hawkins(1-1) who went 3 innings, allowing 1
run. Hawkins was helped out by Chris Ray who recorded his 16th save. Scott
Mathieson(0-1) ended up with the loss. He allowed 3 homeruns in 4 innings of
work.
