September 9, 2006 Marlins 4, Phillies 2




Three mistake pitches were the goat today, as three homeruns accounted for the Marlins scoring enabeling them to beat the Phils.

Miguel Olivo's 2-run shot in the 4th gave the Marlins the lead 2-1, and Wes Helms with a pinch-hit homer in the 7th made it 3-1. The Phillies get a run in the 8th on a Victorino triple, but Mike Jacobs gives the Marlins the two-run cushion back with a solo shot in the bottom of the 8th to make 4-2 the final.

In a good matchup it was the Florida Marlins 4, the Philadelphia Phillies 2 at
Dolphins Stadium.

Florida scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 4th inning. The crucial at-bat was
provided by Miguel Olivo who made the Florida fans a happy lot when he lifted
one out of the park for a two run home run (his 9th of the season). Florida
out-hit Philadelphia for the game, 8 hits to 4.

The winning pitcher was Randy Messenger(4-6) who allowed no runs in 2 and 2/3
innings. Messenger got relief help from Joe Borowski who gained credit for
his 36th save. Brett Myers(11-6) took the loss.

With this win, Florida has a 64-78 record. They have been 6-4 lately. With
this loss, Philadelphia has a 3-7 record of late, 81-61 overall.
