September 8, 2006 Phillies 5, Marlins 4 (10)
| Ryan Howard goes 3 for 5 with 4 RBI, falling a double shy of the cycle and is singlehandedly responsible for tying the game and winning the game for the Phillies. In the 6th down 3-0, Howard knocks a run home via a single for the first Phillie run. He slams a 2-run homer in the 8th to tie the game at 3, and after Shane Victorino's RBI single, Howard triples to send Vic home for the 5-3 Phillie lead. The Marlins do get a run in the 10th off Gordon (who gets the win as he came into the game in the 9th with the score tied), but the game ends with the tying run stranded at second. Because of that run, Howard's triple scored what proved to be the winning run. The Phils get back on the winning track, snapping their 4 game losing streak and hold a 4 1/2 game lead over the Mets and Braves in the division. |
