September 6, 2006 Red Sox 4, White Sox 1
| The Red Sox take the last two games of the series in what is easily Kyle Snyder's best start of the season. Snyder goes 6 shutout innings, striking out 9. Javier Lopez and Keith Foulke finish up, and Foulke ends up with a save after Jermaine Dye hit a homer off Lopez to spoil the shutout in the 8th inning. The Red Sox did all the needed damage by batting around in the 4th, scoring 4 runs. Coco Crisp was thrown out at second trying to stretch a single into a double for out number one. Mark Loretta doubles, David Ortiz walks and Manny knocks in both of them with a double for a 2-0 lead. That did it for Jose Contreras, and Charlie Haeger comes in. Trot strikes out for the second out, then Mike Lowell is intentionally walked to set up a force anywhere but home. The move backfires on the White Sox, as Jason Varitek singles to load the bases and Eric Hinske rips a double to score two more and a 4-0 lead. Alex Cora would ground out to end the inning. |
