September 4, 2006 White Sox 11, Red Sox 2
| The IRL late season scramble for arms is beginning to show in the replay, as the White Sox do all their damage in the 6th and 7th innings, specifically courtesy of Tadahito Iguchi. Julian Tavarez made it through the first 5 inning unscathed despite allowing 7 hits, but after a single, groundout, an RBI double (which tied the game) and a walk and over 100 pitches, was done for the day and normally reliable Manny Declarmen comes in. Not today, though. Declamen allows a single to load the bases, gets a strikeout and then Iguchi slams a two-out grand slam to give the White Sox the lead. Iguchi wasn't done, and in the 7th rips a 2-run homer off Bryan Corey to cap a 2 homer, 6 RBI day. The Red Sox batters did not strike out at all today, which considering the number of free swingers on the team seems surprising to me. |

Second baseman Tadahito Iguchi smacked 2 homeruns at Fenway Park as the
Chicago (AL) White Sox beat the Boston Red Sox 11 to 2.
Iguchi was unconscious all evening. The Boston fans hated to see him
approaching the batter's box as he just kept delivering base hits! He slapped
a single in the 3rd inning, depressed the partisan hometown fans with a grand
slam home run in the 6th inning and blasted a two-run home run (his 18th of
the season) in the 7th inning. Chicago (AL) out-hit Boston for the game, 16
hits to 6.
The victory went to Jon Garland(12-8) who went 5 and 2/3 innings, allowing 1
run. Julian Tavarez(5-3) was given the loss. 'I was in my hotel room the
other night, working on my swing and made some adjustments,' Iguchi said.
'I'm always working on it. If they are getting you out certain ways, you've
got to make changes.'
