| The Phillies bat around in the first, scoring 5 runs off Tony Armas Jr. (four of those before even getting an out) and get a big 5-run 5th while Brett Myers pitches a 3-hitter to rip the Nats in what looks more like the score of a football game than a baseball game! Not helping Armas Jr.'s lousy start any was Ryan Wagner. Wagner lets 8 runs score off him in an inning an 1/3 including Chase Utley's 3-run homer, surprisingly considering the score the only homerun hit by the Phillies today. Meanwhile, Myers retires the first 16 batters to face him, not allowing a runner until Brian Schneider singles with one out in the 6th. Myers gets his 10th win of the season., and helps his own cause by scoring twice. |

Chase Utley jacked one out of the ballyard and had 3 RBI and Brett Myers
carried a no-hitter into the 6th inning at RFK STADIUM as the Philadelphia
Phillies embarrassed the Washington Nationals by the lopsided score of 14 to
0.
Myers(10-5) was indeed brilliant as he hand-cuffed the Washington offense. He
didn't give up much, just 3 hits and no walks in 9 innings lowering his ERA
from 4.92 to 4.66. The right-handed Myers had his no-hit bid broken up by
Brian Schneider who singled with one out in the 6th inning. Philadelphia had
14 hits for the night.
Tony Armas Jr(7-10) suffered the loss. With this win, Philadelphia has a
division leading 78-53 record. They have been 7-3 lately. With the loss,
Washington has a record of 7-3 lately, 61-70 overall.
