August 8, 2006 Red Sox 13, Royals 4

Hard to believe, but after 6 innings the Royals led the game 2-1. The Sox pour it on late, scoring 12 runs over the last 3 innings with a 3 run 7th, a 4 run 8th, and a 5 run 9th. Big Papi's 2 run shot was the big hit in the 7th, Doug Mirabelli with a 3-run bomb for the big blow in the 8th, and Coco Crisp's bases loaded triple (Crisp would score on a wild pitch to the next batter) capped the 9th inning. I will put the play account from the 7th inning on in so you can see it for yourself.

Coco Crisp collected 2 extra-base hits and had 3 RBI at Kauffman Stadium where
the Boston Red Sox beat the pitiful Kansas City Royals 13 to 4.

Boston took the lead for keeps in the 7th inning scoring 3 runners on 2 hits.
The crucial at-bat was provided by David Ortiz who deflated the crowd as he
popped a two-run clout over the fence (his 47th of the season). Kansas City
was out-hit by Boston, 13 hits to 10.

Craig Hansen(1-0) went 1 inning allowing no runs for the victory. Joel
Peralta(2-5) ended up with the loss in relief. With this win, Boston has a
57-54 record. They have been 6-4 lately. Buddy Bell was pretty down after
the loss. 'We've really been sputtering along lately, something like 2-8 in
the last week or two. That won't get it done.'
