August 4, 2006 Phillies 3, Mets 1 (10)
| The Phillies take a 5 game lead in the division over the second place Mets with the win in a thriller at Shea. Chris Coste is the hero, with a 2-run homer in the top of the 10th after coming in to pinch hit and take over behind the plate in the 8th. In fact, all runs today scored on homeruns, with a Rollins shot to lead off the game and Chris Woodward homering in the Mets 2nd inning. The score would stay 1-1 until Coste homered in the 10th, although you will see in the web gems that is should have been 2-2! Randy Wolf and Odalis Hernandez were on top of their games, each going 7 strong innings allowing the solo homer each. Hernandez only allowed 2 hits, with a Rowand single in the 7th being the only other hit. |
