august 3, 2006 Phillies 6, Cardinals 1

The Phillies avert the sweep, as they stop the Cardinals 8 game winning streak as Cole Hamels goes to 9-0 for the year with a solid performance. Aaron Rowand carries the big bat for the day, going 4 for 5 with a single, two doubles and a triple.

Had the Phillies lost and been swept in the series, it would have been the first time they would have been swept since mid-April, when they were swept in 3 straight series which gave them that horrid 2-10 start to the year. In fact, they haven't even lost 3 straight games since then!
