August 13, 2006 Red Sox 8, Orioles 6
| This is why the Baltimore Orioles have the worst ERA in the majors right now. After the O's scored 3 runs in the 2nd off Jon Lester to jump in front early, the Sox got 4 in the 3th to take the lead and would never trail again, scoring single runs in the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th innings. For most of the game the Sox had more runs than hits as you can tell by how the starters did. Lester allowed 11 hits and 5 runs in 4+ innings, while Orioles starter Daniel Cabrera allowed 6 hits, 7 runs and 5 walks in 5 2/3. In the end, the Sox did get more hits than runs but were still outhit by the Orioles 13-9. |

Designated hitter Manny Ramirez connected with a 'big fly' and had 3 RBI as
the Boston Red Sox defeated the Baltimore Orioles by a score of 8 to 6 at
Fenway Park.
Baltimore was unable to recover after Boston went ahead in the 5th inning
scoring one runner. Ramirez smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly' (his 34th of the
season). Although they lost, Baltimore did out-hit Boston 13 to 9.
The victory went to Julian Tavarez(5-1) who went 3 innings, allowing 1 run.
Jonathan Papelbon earned his 27th save. Daniel Cabrera(8-7) was the loser.
He gave up 7 runs in 5 and 2/3 innings of work.
