The Red Sox continue their west coast swing with a stop in Oakland , where Alex Gonzalez hit 2 solo homers one to tie the game in the 6th and one that ended up being the game winner in the 10th. Josh Beckett's start including 6 walks, including walking four straight in the 5th leading directly to a run.

Alex Gonzalez cracked 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI as the Boston Red Sox defeated
the Oakland Athletics in 10 innings by a score of 4 to 3 at McAfee
Coliseum.

Both teams were tied at 3 runs apiece after nine innings. Boston came out on
top in the 10th inning. Gonzalez smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly' (his 5th of
the season). Overall Boston out-hit Oakland 8 to 4.

The victory was credited to Mike Timlin(3-2) who went 1 inning, allowing no
runs. Timlin was helped out by Jonathan Papelbon who recorded his 24th save.
Barry Zito(8-7) was given the loss.

The Boston ballclub's record now stands at 50-48. With the loss, the Oakland
ballclub's record is 49-50.
