July 21, 2006 Mariners 3, Red Sox 2
| The Mariners score 3 runs right out of the gate in the first inning, and it proves to be enough for the win. The Sox had their chances late in the game though, loading the bases in the 8th with no outs and Big Papi and Manny due up, but Ortiz struck out and Manny grounded into a DP to end that threat. They did get a run in the 9th, but it would not be enough. |

Raul Ibanez lofted one into the 'cheap seats' and had 2 RBI as the Seattle
Mariners beat the Boston Red Sox by a score of 3 to 2.
Seattle did all of it's offensive work in the 1st inning scoring 3 runs using
3 hits. Ichiro Suzuki led off the inning for Seattle when he slapped a
one-base hit. Willie Bloomquist next to the plate and he laid down a
sacrifice bunt. Kyle Snyder then had one get away for a wild pitch. Adrian
Beltre followed and he doubled plating a run. Ibanez came to the plate and
cracked a two-run shot (his 23rd of the season). That early scoring held up.
Boston made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed
runs across.
The winning pitcher was Jamie Moyer(6-9) who allowed 1 run in 5 and 1/3
innings. J.J. Putz earned the save, his 24th. Snyder(1-2) suffered the loss.
'It was a tough one to lose' said Terry Francona 'We'll get them next time
out.'
