July 18, 2006 Red Sox 23, Royals 4

I had a feeling that this game was going to go the Red Sox way when they scored 5 runs in the first inning, although never expected this!!

Manny Ramirez and Mike Lowell both hit 2 run homers in the first inning, as Royals starter Brandon Duckworth couldn't get out of the first. Changing pitchers didn't help the Royals cause any, as the Sox smashed whoever got thrown out there to face them.

Two homeruns for Lowell in the game, and Big Papi added a grand slam for good measure in the later innings. I will put the play account in after the box score so you can follow everything.

Third baseman Mike Lowell cracked 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI at Fenway Park as
the Boston Red Sox, running on all cylinders, ripped the Kansas City Royals
by a large 23 to 4 margin.

Lowell provided much of the offense. He smashed a two-run homer in the 1st
inning, lined a one-base hit scoring a run in the 3rd inning and cleared the
fences for a two-run home run (his 9th of the season) in the 7th inning.
Boston provided plenty of action in the 1st inning which saw them plate 5
runs on 7 hits and the 3rd inning when they had 5 runs on 4 hits. The Boston
offense was great, scoring in 7 of the 9 innings.

The victory went to Jon Lester(3-2) who went 6 and 2/3 innings, allowing 4
runs. Brandon Duckworth(0-5) was the loser.
