August 2, 2006 Cardinals 6, Phillies 4

Juan Encarnacion blasted a big 3-run homer in the bottom of the 6th to give the Cards their first lead of the game 5-4, and that would prove to be the difference in the game. The Phillie bats continue to smoke with 10 hits today, but couldn't translate it into enough runs on the scoreboard.

The Cardinals beat the Phils for the second straight day, win their 7th straight, and also wrest the NL's best record away from the Phillies.
