July 5, 2006 Red Sox 1, Devil Rays 0
| Kevin Youkilis is all the offense this game, with his solo homerun in the 2nd being the only run of the game for either team. Jason Johnson only allows 2 hits in 7 2/3 shutout innings (4 walks however), as Papelbon finishes it off going the final 1 1/3 innings for save number 19. Johnson did not record a single strikeout for his start, one of the few times that a starter goes a significant number of innings without a K. This is the midway point of the season, with the Sox at a dissapointing 41-41. Still a lot of season left, though, to get things in gear. |
