July 4, 2006 Phillies 10, Padres 1
| Cole Hamels goes to 7-0 for the season and hits an RBI double, part of a 6-run 6th inning that opens up the game. Hamels one mistake for the game was a solo homerun to Josh Barbield in the 3rd, which at the time gave the Padres the 1-0 lead. That lead wouldn't last, as the Phillies get 3 runs in the 5th and open the game up with a 6-run 6th inning. Old friend Cla Meridith comes in for the 6th for the Padres, and retires the first two batters. Pat Burrell walks, back to back singles by Aaron Rowand and Carlos Ruiz score a run, Hamels hits the double to score a run, Jimmy Rollins hits a 2-run triple, and Chase Utley hits a 2-run homer. The Phils get one more run off Meridith in the 7th, and cruise to the 10-1 victory. |

The Philadelphia Phillies enjoyed a blow-out, pounding the San Diego Padres
pitchers for 10 while Cole Hamels(7-0), with relief help from Fabio Castro,
held San Diego to 1 run.
San Diego was unable to claim the lead after Philadelphia went ahead in the
5th inning with 3 runs using 3 hits. David Bell kicked off the action when
he doubled. After an out was recorded, Aaron Rowand stepped up to the plate
and he lined a base-hit scoring a run. Carlos Ruiz then drew a walk. Hamels
came up and he laid down a sacrifice bunt. Jimmy Rollins stepped into the
box and slapped a single as two more runners crossed the plate. San Diego
was out-hit by Philadelphia, 11 hits to 2.
Clay Hensley(8-5) was charged with the loss. He allowed 4 hits and 2 walks in
5 innings.
