June 20, 2006 Yankees 7, Phillies 4

This battle of the AL East leaders vs the NL East leaders goes the Yankees way, as Mike Mussina strikes out 10 in 8 innings, although needing 139 pitches to do it. Lots of high pitch counts today, as the ineffective Cory Lidle needs 120 pitches for 5 innings, allowing 7 runs.

The Phils, down by 3 in the 9th, did try to get something going against Mariano Rivera as David Bell led off with a single and Sal Fasano was hit by a pitch, but Rivera struck out pinch-hitter Chris Coste and Jimmy Rollins, and got Chase Utley to ground out to end the game and earn save number 21.
