June 18, 2006 Phillies 11, Devil Rays 7
| The Phillies run on all cylinders again, and for the fifth consecutive game score 10 or more runs. Every starter except for Bobby Abreu had at least one hit, with pitcher Ryan Madson hepling his own cause going 2 for 3. David Dellucci got the star for the game, going 3 for 5, scoring twice and 2 RBI and a homerun. Chase Utley continues to sizzle, going 2 for 4 scoring twice and driving in two. Lots of big innings lately for the Phils, and today is no different with a 4 run 3rd. Russell Branyan hit 2 homers in a losing cause for the Devil Rays, who tried to make a little noise in the late innings scoring single runs in th 7th, 8th, and 2 in the 9th but it was nowhere near enough. I am curious now what the record is for most consecutive 10 or more run games, because 5 seems like a hell of a lot. Hard to score 10 runs in one game, never mind 5 straight! |

David Dellucci slammed a homerun and had 2 RBI as the Philadelphia Phillies
defeated the Tampa Bay Devil Rays by the score of 11 to 7 at Citizen's Bank
Park.
Philadelphia jumped on top of Tampa Bay in the bottom of the 2nd inning
scoring 2 runners on 2 hits. Tampa Bay scored in 5 different innings, but
their shaky pitching kept them from victory.
Ryan Madson(3-3) went 6 and 1/3 innings allowing 4 runs for the victory. Seth
McClung(0-6) absorbed the loss. He was hit hard and gave up 5 hits and 2
walks in 2 and 2/3 innings.
The Philadelphia ballclub's record now stands at a division leading 39-30.
With the loss, Tampa Bay has a record of 3-7 lately, 24-46, worst in the
division overall.
