| Tim Wakefield only made two mistakes this game, but they were biggies. After David Ortiz hit his major-league leading 29th homerun in the first to give the Sox the 1-0 lead, Rondell White smashed a 3-run homer off Wakefield in the 2nd. Torii Hunter chipped in a 2-run shot off Wakefield in the 7th, and the Twins got 2 more off Rudy Seanez in the 8th to ice the game. The Sox begin their interleague schedule next, with games in Atlanta, home series against the Nationals, Phillies and Mets, and a series in Florida. |

The Minnesota Twins cruised to a 7 to 2 victory over the Boston Red Sox at
Metrodome.
Minnesota came up with 3 runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning. That was all
the runs Carlos Silva(3-4) needed. Although they lost, Boston did out-hit
Minnesota 10 to 6.
Jesse Crain got the save, his 2nd. Tim Wakefield(5-6) was the loser. He
surrendered 5 hits and 2 walks in 6 and 1/3 innings.
