June 13, 2006 Red Sox 4, Twins 3

The team with the best record in baseball, the Minnesota Twins, send staff ace Johan Santana to battle the Sox ace Curt Schilling. Surprisingly, six homeruns were hit in the game with every run scored during the game scoring on a homerun.

Big Papi and Manny hit back-to-back homers in the 3rd, and Trot hit a solo shot in the 4th to give the Sox the surprising 3-0 lead against the 11-2 Santana. Luis Rodrigues spoiled Schilling's shutout bid with a solo homerun in the 7th to make the score 3-1. Manny hits his second solo homerun of the game in the 8th to make it 4-1. That homerun would prove to be important, as Mike Cudyer hit a 2-run shot off Mike Timlin in the 8th to close the gap to a one run lead. Paplebon comes in with two outs in the 8th, and earnes save number 15.

The Sox get back to the .500 mark with the win. Schilling goes 6 2/3 innings for the win, and Santana went 7 innings getting the loss as his record "drops" to 11-3.
