July 1, 2006 Tigers 3, Pirates 0

A Jason Bay double in the second inning off Jeremy Bonderman is the only hit that the Pirates can muster for the game, as three Detroit pitchers combine on the one-hitter. Not too often that a team needs almost 150 pitches for a one-hitter!!

Right fielder Magglio Ordonez had 4 hits and 3 RBI as the Detroit Tigers
defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates by a score of 3 to 0 at PNC Park.

Detroit started with a bang, jumping out to an early lead in their half of the
first when they tallied 2 runs on 3 hits. That early run support was enough
for Jeremy Bonderman(8-5) and Detroit. The pitchers took over after the 3rd
inning as neither team was able to score again.

Todd Jones earned the save, his 11th. Tom Gorzelanny(0-1) was hit with the
loss. Detroit now has a record of 43-38. With the loss Pittsburgh now has a
record of 36-46.
