May 30, 2006 Red Sox 9, Blue Jays 2




The Sox get three multiple run innings and send the balls flying out of the Skydome after being shut down for the first 14 innings of the series. Varitek hit a solo shot and a 2-run homer for Trot in the 6th, Big Papi and Manny back to back in the 7th, and Ortiz opens up the game with a 3-run homer in the 9th to cap his 2 homer, 4 RBI day. Josh Beckett gets the complete game to give the bullpen the day off.

David Ortiz smacked 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI and Josh Beckett completed the
game without help from the bullpen at Rogers Centre as the Boston Red Sox
beat the Toronto Blue Jays 9 to 2.

Ortiz led the offense for Boston. He banged out a single in the 1st inning,
blasted a solo shot in the 7th inning and clubbed a three-run home run (his
23rd of the season) in the 9th inning. Boston had a total of 11 hits for the
game.

Beckett(4-3) got the victory, allowing 2 runs for the game. Gustavo
Chacin(3-2) ended up with the loss. He pitched 5 and 1/3 innings giving up 6
hits and 3 walks.
