June 8, 2006 Red Sox 4, Yankees 1
| The Sox end a 6 game losing streak with Mike Lowell's 2-run homerun being the big blow for the game. Solid start for Curt Schilling, only allowing 3 hits and a run through 7 innings, as Foulke pitches a spotless 8th and Papelbon strikes out the side with a double squeezed in between in the 9th. A VERY early hook for the Yankees' Jaret Wright, as after walking 2 in the first and allowing a single, Lowell's homer, and two more singles before retiring a batter in the 2nd he was yanked. Sure, it wasn't the greatest beginning to a game, but it still seems really early to yank him after not even 40 pitches. The Yanks relievers did fine though, as the Sox only got one more run for the game. |
