| The Phillies begin an 11 game road trip, the longest of the year, on a winning note with Ryan Howard's solo shot with one out in the 8th inning breaking a 3-3 tie. Aaron Rowand had a damn good day, falling a homerun shy of hitting for the cycle. With the win, the Phils take over sole possession of first place in the NL East, 1/2 game ahead of the Mets, who had the day off. |

Center fielder Aaron Rowand collected 2 extra-base hits and had 2 RBI and Ryan
Franklin finished beautifully at Dodger Stadium where the Philadelphia
Phillies beat the Los Angeles(NL) Dodgers by the score of 5 to
3.
Philadelphia scored the deciding run in the top of the 8th inning. After an
out was recorded, Ryan Howard smashed a solo-shot out of the park (his 15th
of the season). Overall Philadelphia out-hit Los Angeles(NL) 11 to 7.
Clay Condrey(1-2) got credit for the victory, pitching 1 inning and allowing
no runs. Condrey got help from Franklin who was credited with his 1st save.
Jonathan Broxton(1-3) was tagged with the loss in relief. Despite the loss,
he struckout 7 Philadelphia batters in 2 and 2/3 innings.
The winning ways continue for Philadelphia. They now have a record of 8-2 in
recent days. With the loss, Los Angeles(NL) has a record of 6-4 lately,
29-25 overall.
