May 24, 2006 Yankees 5, Red Sox 4

The saga that is Matt "Vag" Clement continues. Since his first two lousy starts to the season, he has alternated between great and shitty. In starts 3 through 8, he allowed 0 runs in 7 1/3 innings, 5 runs in 5, 0 runs in 7, 7 runs in 5 1/3, 0 runs in 6, and 4 runs in 6 1/3. Since this start was after a lousy one, I thought hey maybe he will have a great start. No such luck, as the Yanks score 5 runs off him in 5 innings.

The Sox make a comeback in the 7th, scoring 4 runs thanks to a bases loaded single, two bases loaded walks and a sac fly, but then Mario Rivera came in in the 8th and that was it. Had the Sox won, they would have tied the Yanks for second, one game back of the first place Blue Jays. Instead, they sit in 3rd one behind the Yanks and 2 back of the Jays.
