| The Phillies knock around Mets starter Alay Soler in his major league debut, as Sloer doesn't get out of the first inning allowing 5 runs and 3 walks. A big day for Ryan Howard and Sal Fasano's 3-run double help in the win, along with another solid start from Jon Lieber. It is not often that a team can score 10 runs and still strike out 13 times, but the Phillies managed to do it. They either seem to miss the ball completely or slam it out of the park - lots of homers and strikeouts so far this season. |

First baseman Ryan Howard blasted a homerun and had 4 RBI at Shea Stadium
where the Philadelphia Phillies beat the New York (NL) Mets 10 to 2.
Howard provided the offensive punch. He doubled which plated a run in the 2nd
inning, lifted one out of the park for a two run home run (his 12th of the
season) in the 7th inning and doubled knocking in a run in the 9th inning.
