May 18, 2006 Phillies 6, Brewers 5

Cole Hamels is not nearly as sharp as he was in his 7 inning, no run debut, but still gets the win to go to 2-0. Strikeouts a plenty this game, with 22 total. But most impressive was Tom Gordon. After Geoff Geary allowed a homer and 2 more baseruners in the 8th, Gordon comes in and strikes out the side in the 8th, and strikes out the side in the 9th with a single sandwiched in for 6 K in the 2 inning save.

The Phillies go to .500 for the first time this season (20-20), and have gone 18-10 since that 2-10 start to the season.

Bobby Abreu had 2 base hits and 2 RBI as the Philadelphia Phillies beat the
Milwaukee Brewers by a score of 6 to 5.

Cole Hamels(2-0) labored throughout the game but hung around to record a
victory. He gave up 10 hits and no walks in 6 and 1/3 innings. Hamels
recorded 7 strikeouts and allowed 3 gopher balls. Milwaukee made it exciting
in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across.

Tom Gordon recorded his 6th save. Dana Eveland(0-2) was charged with the
loss. He was touched for 10 hits and 2 walks in 4 and 1/3 innings.

'It wasn't my best outing, but I'll take the win' Hamels said.
