April 9, 2006 Dodgers 5, Phillies 4
| After losing game 1 of the doubleheader 3-0, the Phillies make a game of this one but still end up short against the 5-1 Dodgers. Chase Utley's solo homer in the 5th put the Phils up 3-2, but Julio Cruz with a 2-run double in the 6th gives LA the lead back. Cody Ross hit a pinch-hit homer in the 8th to give the Dodgers an extra run that would prove costly as when Jimmy "Homerman" Rollins hit his 6th of the young season in the bottom of the 8th, that would have tied the game. That homer pace can't last forever, but I will enjoy it while it is happening. Tahashi Saito gets 2 saves for the day, saving both games. In game 1, he struck out the side in the 9th and in this one gets 4 K's in 1 2/3, for 7 strikeouts in 2 2/3 for the day. |

the Philadelphia Phillies 5 to 4 at Citizen's Bank Park.
Derek Lowe(1-0) had a fairly solid outing. He went 5 innings allowing 5 hits
