April 5, 2006 Phillies 13, Cardinals 2
| The Phillies get their first win of the season running on all cylinders in a 16-hit attack. Jimmy Rollins is the surprise slugger of the day, with a 3-run homer and a 2-run shot. Pat Burrell added a 2-run dinger, while Ryan Howard contributed a solo homer. Every starter had at least one hit except for pitcher Brett Myers, but he reached base twice on a botched squeeze play and a walk and ended up scoring both times! |

Shortstop Jimmy Rollins blasted 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI as the Philadelphia
Phillies destroyed the St. Louis Cardinals by a score of 13 to 2 at Citizen's
Bank Park.
Rollins was in a groove all evening. He lofted a three-run 'big-fly' in the
2nd inning, bombed a two-run dinger (his 2nd of the season) in the 4th inning
and doubled in the 6th inning. Philadelphia had 16 hits for the game and St.
Louis had 5.
Brett Myers(1-0) allowed 2 runs in 7 innings, and picked up the victory. Mark
Mulder(0-1) was charged with the loss. He served up 4 homeruns in his 4
innings.
'I've spent a lot of time in the cage and made some adjustments and they've
paid off,' Rollins said. 'I just take the same approach up there. I don't
overanalyze it. I go up there, see the ball and try to put a good swing on
it.'
