April 4, 2006 Rangers 3, Red Sox 2 (10)


The Rangers hand the Sox their first loss of the year on a 2 out, bottom of the 10th Brad Wilkerson walk off homer off Mike Timlin. Sox had a chance to take the lead in the 8th with runners on 1st and 2nd with one out, but pinch-runner Wily Mo Pena was thrown out at home and David Ortiz (3 for 3 with 2 homers at that point) struck out to end the inning. 4 homeruns in the first 2 games for Big Papi.

The Texas Rangers edged the Boston Red Sox in 10 innings at Ameriquest Field
by the score of 3 to 2.

Both teams were tied at 2 runs apiece after nine innings. Texas was
victorious in the 10th inning. After two outs Brad Wilkerson ripped a solo
home run (his 1st of the season) making Texas the victors to the delight of
the home town faithful. Despite losing, Boston out-hit Texas 10 to 6.

The winning pitcher was Brian Shouse(1-0) who allowed no runs in 1 and 2/3
innings. Mike Timlin(0-1) was hit with the loss in relief. He pitched 2/3 of
an inning and surrendered 1 hit and no walks.
