| Sox get to .500 as Matt Clement lowers his ERA by about 8 runs, only allowing 3 hits in 7 1/3 for his first win of the season. Clement and Keith Foulke combine on the shutout. 3 runs in the 7th and 4 in the 8th turned a fairly close 4-0 game into a laugher. Only one error made by the Red Sox on the season so far - most impressive. |

The Tampa Bay Devil Rays endured an embarrassing pasting as a potent Boston
Red Sox lineup tallied 11 runs while Matt Clement(1-2), with relief help from
Keith Foulke, throttled Tampa Bay.
Boston jumped out to the early lead in the first inning when they scored 2
runs on 2 hits. That scoring would be all that was needed. Boston had 12
hits overall, while Tampa Bay had 3.
Casey Fossum(1-2) was charged with the loss. He gave up 4 runs and 5 hits in
5 and 2/3 innings.
