April 12, 2006 Braves 7, Phillies 5

OMG, I wanted to scream after this one. 7th inning, Cory Lidle smoking right along only allowing 3 hits to that point. After Lidle allowed a single, two doubles and a run with an out sandwiched in there, usually reliable Geoff Geary comes in. Not this time, though. A single, a hit batter and another single score 2 more runs. Suddenly, it is 5-3. Arthur Rhodes comes in, thinking it is a little too early to bring Gordon in. What does Rhodes do - allows an RBI single, then a 3-run homerun to Andruw Jones. After a hit batter, Gordon came in after all with no further damage. But it was too late, as the Phils went down without a fight in the 8th and 9th, falling to 2-6 for the season.

Center fielder Andruw Jones blasted a homerun and had 3 RBI as the Atlanta
Braves defeated the Philadelphia Phillies 7 to 5 at Turner Field.

Atlanta scored all of the necessary runs in the 7th inning as they showed no
mercy on Philadelphia blasting them for 7 hits and plating 7 runs. The
critical plate appearance was by Jones who brought a roar from the partisan
Turner Field fans when he lofted a three-run bomb (his 2nd of the season).
Atlanta finished with 10 hits in the victory.

Chris Reitsma(1-1) got the win allowing no runs in 1/3 of an inning. Reitsma
was helped out by Chuck James who recorded his 1st save. Arthur Rhodes(0-1)
absorbed the loss in relief.
