April 12, 2006 Blue Jays 13, Red Sox 3

Now I know why I always hated David Wells. In my SOM, he either pitches great or shitty, never in between. Today was one of the shittier ones. He had a rough first inning, allowing 4 runs. He had settled down nicely after that - until the 6th. After 2 singles and Shea Hillenbrand's 3-run bomb, that was it for Mr. Wells after allowing 8 runs in 5+. That was also it for the Red Sox, as it just fell apart from there. Jason Varitek knocked in all 3 of the Sox runs for the game.

WEB GEMS- Bot 9th: Vernon Wells robbed Josh Bard of a Homerun!

Vernon Wells connected with a 'big fly' and had 4 RBI at Fenway Park as the
Toronto Blue Jays, running on all cylinders, ripped the Boston Red Sox by a
large 13 to 3 margin.

Wells had a good evening at the plate. He smacked a single knocking in a run
in the 1st inning, tripled in the 3rd inning and rifled a three-run blast
(his 1st of the season) in the 8th inning. Boston was out-hit by Toronto, 17
hits to 9.

Gustavo Chacin(1-0) picked up the victory, allowing 1 run in 6 innings. David
Wells(0-1) absorbed the loss. He gave up 8 runs in 5 innings of work.
