April 11, 2006 Red Sox 3, Blue Jays 1 (Red Sox home opener)
| A much sharper Josh Beckett opens the Fenway season it style, only allowing 2 hits and one unearned run which scored on an error by Kevin Youkilis. Youk made up for it with a 3-run blast in the 7th to give the Sox all the runs they would need. |

In a close game the Boston Red Sox got by the Toronto Blue Jays by the score
of 3 to 1.
Boston came up with all the runs they needed in the 7th inning scoring 3 runs
using 4 hits. After an out was recorded, Wily Mo Pena keyed the rally when
he laced a one-base hit. Alex Gonzalez came next and he slapped a base-hit.
Kevin Youkilis then rifled a three-run blast (his 2nd of the season). The
Toronto batters went down meekly in the 9th.
Josh Beckett(1-1) was the winner allowing 1 run in 7 innings. Mike Timlin
earned the save, his 1st. Justin Speier(1-1) was tagged with the loss in
relief. He allowed 2 runs and 2 hits without retiring a batter.
